2003 Oldsmobile Bravada Mid-Size Suv
By the Staff
Oldmobile's four-door SUV earned a new platform, engines and sleek sheetmetal styling in 2002. With wheelbase stretched six inches further, the 2002 version measured larger than previous iterations in an expansion that elevated Bravada to the mid-size wagon class and carved out cabin space for five plus a cargo bay with 40 cubic feet. Bravada's cabin carries two rows of leather-clad seats with two plush buckets in front of a bench for three. Front seats adjust in eight directions with power controls, while the rear seatback splits 40/60 and folds to double the cargo space of a flat-floored bay. Deluxe amenities include perforated leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate controls, a deluxe audio kit, auxiliary air compressor that also feeds the rear air suspension, and OnStar telecommunications link. Power is derived from an in-line-six producing 270 hp through a four-speed automatic. For 2003, a DVD-based passenger entertainment system will be available late in the model-year. Also, a coil-spring suspension is offered on the AWD Bravada and a traction controller with locking rear axle becomes standard on the 2WD Bravada.
