A big wagon with three powertrain options, Commander looks like a modern interpretation of Jeep classics, thanks to sheetmetal styling with crisp lines and planar surfaces. It shares a 109.5-inch wheelbase with Grand Cherokee but the structure measures inches longer, carving out more room in the cabin for three tiers of seats. A stepped roof design adds headroom for passengers on second and third rows as optional skylights bring in more light.

For powertrains, Commander offers the 330 hp and 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with multi-displacement system (MDS), which can switch seamlessly to fuel-saving four-cylinder; Jeep's 4.7-liter Power Tech V8 with 235 hp, and a 3.7-liter Power Tech V6 rated at 210 hp. For 4WD action, Jeep adds options with three different systems -- Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II.

Standard safety equipment includes an anti-lock brake system (ABS), electronic stability program (ESP) and a traction control system (TCS).
