The DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan) of 2006 is Cadillac's new large-scale luxury sedan in front-wheel-drive (FWD) format. As replacement for Cadillac's long-standing DeVille luxury car, elegant DTS rides on a stretched platform and provides a deluxe passenger compartment lined with fancy appointments.

Powertrain is Cadillac's NorthStar 4.6-liter V8 tuned to 275 hp or 291 hp and channeled through GM's Hydra-Matic 4T80-E four-speed automatic transmission.

A number of safety systems and sophisticated chassis control technologies for DTS include six standard air bags, anti-lock brakes and traction control, StabiliTrak with Brake Assist, and Magnetic Ride Control (MRC).

Comfort and convenience items available for DTS range from heated and cooled front seats to tri-zone climate controls, front and rear ultrasonic park assist, a six-disc CD/MP3 player, optional OnStar telecommunications and XM satellite radio service plus a DVD navigation system.

It competes with the Audi A5, BMW 5 Series, Chrysler 300, Infiniti M, Jaguar S-Type, Lexus GS and GS Hybrid, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Saab 9-5 and the Volvo S80.

All trim levels of the Cadillac DTS are available with a 275- or 292-horsepower, 4.6-liter, V8 engine, four-speed automatic transmission, and a front-wheel drive system. The basic suspension and drive-train features include adaptive and sport suspension (available on the Performance trim level only), auto-leveling and four wheel independent suspension, front and rear anti-roll bars, power and speed-sensing steering, 17-inch wheel (18-inch for Performance), alloy wheels, and optional chrome wheels.

Cadillac DTS comfort and convenience features include seating for 5, 4-way power bench or bucket front seats with an optional massage function and lumbar support, and front and rear center armrests with storage. There is also an auto tilt-away, telescoping, leather-wrapped steering wheel (not available on some trim levels), turn signal indicator mirrors, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, driver vanity mirror, rear window defroster, optional front dual zone air conditioning with automatic temperature control, speed control, and keyless start. The trims include leather upholstery and shift knob, genuine wood dashboard panel and console insert, and body-side moldings.

The Cadillac DTS can be customized with a variety of optional packages and accessories including distance pacing cruise control, rear air conditioning, garage door transmitter, and heated or ventilated front and rear seats.

Power features in the Cadillac DTS include windows, heated door mirrors, optional moon-roof, remote keyless entry, steering wheel memory, memory seats, and a trunk/cargo area release. Instrumentation includes a compass, tachometer, trip computer, and an outside temperature display.

Cadillac DTS entertainment and telematics features include AM/FM/Satellite-capable radio, MP3 capability, CD player, radio data system, steering wheel mounted audio controls, eight Bose speakers (some trim levels), Internet access capability, one LCD monitor on the first row, a diversity antenna, roadside assistance (OnStar), and GPS with voice activation.
