These full-size luxury/performance sedans bring forceful engines, sophisticated electronics governing power production and vehicle stability, and dazzling interactive voice commands for operating navigation, climate and communication equipment.

The 745i is the V8-powered, volume model with a standard-length wheelbase, while the 745Li is a stretched version with more rear-seat room. The 760Li caps the series with an extended wheelbase, and a 12-cylinder engine.

The 6.0-liter aluminum V12 develops 408-hp and features BMW's Valvetronic system plus fully variable bi-VANOS camshaft controls. The 745i and stretched 745Li draw from BMW's 4.4-liter, V8, rated at 325-hp. Both engines mate with a six-speed automatic transmission with shift-by-wire technology through selector controls mounted behind the steering wheel.

The 2008 BMW 7 Series full-size luxury sedan is the brand's flagship and considered one of the finest luxury cars in the world. The company introduced a hydrogen-powered version a few years ago, in conjunction with British Petroleum. The two companies are looking to the future of vehicle fuel options. BMW is certainly attempting to keep large luxury sedans relevant, making sure that they can be fueled in the future.

The 2008 BMW 7 Series is available in three trim levels, with an additional, more-exclusive model called the BMW Alpina B7. The 750i (MSRP $75,800) and 750Li (MSRP $78,900) trim levels compete with the Audi A8 L, Cadillac STS V8, Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas, Jaguar XJR, Lexus LS 460 L, and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class S550. The 760Li trim level (MSRP $122,600) competes with the Audi A8 L W12, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Jaguar XJ8 Super V8, Lexus LS 460 L, and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class S600. All three are available with the six-speed Steptronic manual-shift automatic transmission system, and rear-wheel drive system. The 750i and 750Li come with a 360-horsepower, 4.8-liter V8 engine, while the 760Li comes with a 438-horsepower, 6.0-liter V12 engine.

Basic suspension and handling features include adaptive suspension, four-wheel independent suspension, front and rear anti-roll bars, alloy wheels, and power-dependent and speed-sensing steering. Sport and auto-leveling suspension are optional on the 750i and 750Li but standard on the 760Li.

Convenience, seats and trim features include residual heat circulation, power moonroof, memory seat, steering wheel and head restraints memory, speed control, remote keyless and illuminated entry, telescoping, tilt, and auto tilt-away steering wheel, auto dimming rear view mirror, driver vanity mirror, power trunk closing assist, global positioning system (GPS) with voice activation, garage door transmitter, BMW Assist roadside assistance, power driver and passenger seats, four-way power driver and passenger lumbar support, heated front seats, leather upholstery and steering wheel, and genuine wood dashboard, door panel, and console inserts. Heated rear seats and ventilated front and rear seats are optional on the 750i and 750Li but standard on the 760Li. A sport steering wheel is optional on the 750i and 750Li. Distance pacing cruise control is optional on all trim levels.

Entertainment features include a single-disc CD player, AM/FM/Satellite-capable radio, six-disc remote CD player, weather band radio, ten harman/kardon speakers, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, entertainment system with DVD, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.
